Snowshoe Update Jan 09/24 by Trevor Gambel, Snowshoe Co-ordinator

Today (January 9/24) Jerry Monahan, Paul Doyle, Jerry Unrah and I walked and tamped down all of the existing snowshoe trails from the parking lot up to the cattle guard and fence at the Lynx trail, and the original trail to the Junction Shelter and back to the parking lot outhouse by the Dogleg snowshoe trail.

Also the newer return trail, the Big Tree loop and the connection trails from the original trail to the original return trail. The trails to Eagle shelter have not been done. Probably a fair bit of work involved.

The club has voted to purchase a better and up to date map which hopefully will be in the parking lot and on a phone app. This project started last year and we would like to have it in place this season.

Regarding snowshoeing this year: There are three trails that leave the parking lot, and your snowshoe trek can start or finish on any of these. The Dog Leg ss trail has great views on a nice day from either direction.

Since there will be no grooming, people can choose to snowshoe on ski trails. If you see ski tracks please don't snowshoe on them. Also there are signs of snowmobiles on Elk Run and Dog Leg.

Today the parking lot was recently plowed and please remember to donate at the metal can by the map if you are not a current member.
